Overview

A comprehensive accredited programme dedicated to nurturing your growth as a reflective, knowledgeable, and compassionate psychosexual therapist who is equipped to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve.

The programme is crafted to cultivate your clinical confidence, promote safe and ethical practice, and enhance your capacity to discern, prioritize, and organize psychotherapeutic interventions. Emphasis is placed on both identifying and creating evidence-based practices. Your clinical advancement and acquisition of skills is reviewed through a combination of assessments, a case study and portfolio.

3 weeks of guided learning per year (1 week per term) plus 13 evening webinars covering specialists topics such as GSRD, menopause, asexuality etc. A combination of modalities from Transactional Analysis, Gestalt to CBT, modules include:

  1. Introduction to sex and relationship therapy exploring psychological, biological and social impact.
  2. Models and interventions of relational therapies
  3. Psychosexual diversity
  4. Psychosexual research

 

DATES FOR BELFAST 2027 – 2029

  1. Module 1: 18-22nd Jan 2027
  2. Module 2: 10-14th May 2027
  3. Module 3: 20-24th Sept 2027
  4. Module 4: 10-14th Jan 2028
  5. Modules 5 & 6 are combined to accommodate the placement and clinical handbook
  6. Module 7: 8-12th May 2028
  7. Module 8: 18-22nd Sept 2028

 

EXTENDED INFO:

The total training fee is £7,800 including VAT for the full two-year programme. A non-refundable deposit of £600 is payable on acceptance of a place. The balance is then paid in 24 equal monthly payments of £300.

There will be additional personal costs toward supervision and personal therapy. Although ThIRST will endeavour to offset the cost of supervision with proceeds from the low-cost therapy clinic.

Much of the pre-and essential reading is provided but there will be a requirement to purchase core texts. ThIRST has its own developing library, trainees are welcome to access books onsite but unfortunately trainees cannot remove resources from the premises.

The course includes the requirement for:

Supervised Clinical Placements.

Reflective Activities including personal therapy.

Therapy and supervision sessions which must be with a COSRT Accredited practitioner to be valid.
